Joe Balass, an Iraqi-Canadian filmmaker residing in Montreal, Quebec, is the founder of Compass Productions. Balass’s impressive portfolio of award-winning films includes George and Me (1997) and Baghdad Twist (2007). In 2016, he was selected for the esteemed Berlinale Talent Program. His works have been showcased at various film festivals, including the Toronto International Film Festival and the Turin Film Festival.
