Toronto, Ontario, April 13, 2021 — The Canadian Arab Institute (CAI) welcomes the passage of Resolution 04-10-20 (Justice and Peace in Israel-Palestine) at the 2021 New Democratic Party (NDP) Convention.
The resolution passed by an overwhelming majority is a result of the tireless work of both Palestinian and Jewish advocates, organizations, and many Members of Parliament who endorsed and championed the resolution’s importance and success following the passing at the convention.
“For too long, Canadian progressives have ignored Palestinians and their struggle for freedom, even though it is an important human rights issue of concern to many Canadians. CAI is pleased to see the resolution’s success and support by the NDP. We encourage the Liberals and Conservatives to consider similar measures and affirm the centrality of Palestinian human rights in Canada’s foreign policy in the region.”
- Shireen Salti, Executive Director of the Canadian Arab Institute
According to recent polls, the resolution's adoption is in line with Canadians’ concerns who want to see Canada support Palestinian human rights. We hope all political parties in Canada adopt bold policies reflecting Canadians’ demands and interests from coast to coast.
