What is #YallaJab?
#YallaJab is a public health resource campaign that aims to increase vaccination rates in Ontario's Arab communities by dispelling myths about vaccines and increasing access to information and facts about the COVID-19 vaccine. Our resource guide is available in English, Arabic & French.
Arab communities in Ontario rely heavily on community networks for information about the COVID-19 pandemic and vaccines.
By utilizing these same community networks to disseminate information resources, #YallaJab easily and effectively provides necessary information about vaccines.
Throughout Ontario and Canada, racialized people have been more impacted by the pandemic than white people. For example, the rate of COVID-19 cases among Arabs in Toronto is approximately 8 times higher than white Torontonians. As well, 44% of Arabs in Toronto have reported financial hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Ontario health professionals have consistently said that vaccines are the way out of this pandemic, and an end to the pandemic means an improvement in the livelihood of Arabs and other racialized Ontarians.
Outreach and Impact
The #YallaJab campaign is made possible in collaboration with the Yemeni Canadian Community (YCC). Resources are available here, through the YCC’s network, and through the networks of many service providers across the province.
